Writing 5 : Summary of Journal 3

Based on journal that i have read was described about narrative inquiry. Narrative inquiry is a relatively new qualitative methodology. Narrative inquiry is about human beings have lived out and told stories about that living for as long as we can talk and then we have talked about the stories we tell for almost as long. Narrative inquiry as a methodology entails a view of the phenomenon. To use this methodology is to adopt a particular view of experience as phenomenon under study. According to connely and clandinin (2006, p. 375), narrative inquiry is a way of understanding and inquiring into experience through collaboration between researcher and participants, over time, in a place or series of places, and in social interaction with milieus. Talking about commonplaces of narrative inquiry, there are three commonplaces such as temporality, sociality, and place. Connely and clandinin (2006, p478), while most narrative inquiries begin with telling stories, with a researcher interviewing or having conversation with participants who tell stories of their experiences, a more difficult, time-consuming, intensive, and yet, more profound method is to  begin with participants’ living, because in the end, narrative inquiry is about life and living. There are two ways of analyzing are framed by thinking narratively, by inquring three commoplaces. First is beginning with telling stories, second is beginning with living stories. There are some considerations in designing narrative inquiry such as justification, naming the phenomenon, living the narrative inquiry, positioning, ethical considerations, and issues in representation.
In my opinion, to use narrative inquiry is important. Narrative inquiry is just more than only telling experience or stories of the participants, but it also needs the collaboration and involvement between researcher and participants inside. Narrative inquiry is useful and challenging method.

Tittle and Author              : CLASSROOM INTERACTION ANALYSIS IN INDONESIAN EFL SPEAKING CLASS
  by Sinta Hoerun Nisa.
Content:
Speaking is a complicated skill and needs a long time to develop. In EFL Classroom, classroom interaction seems difficult to use since EFL students have common native languages. Classroom interaction plays significant role, first it increases students’ knowledge of language, second it strengthen relationship among them and teachers. To analyze interaction during speaking class, FLINT system was used. Aspects to be analyzed are teacher talk and student talk. Teacher talk includes teacher’s explanation, feedback, ask question, so on. Students talk includes students’ response, silence and confussion. The researcher used case study to collect the data. The result, during interaction in EFL class, teacher facilitates students to speak with several speaking activities such as class discussion, presentation, simulation and communication games, and the students have more opportunity to speak and interact in EFL speaking class.
